The Importance of Adding Hashtags to Your Company Page on LinkedIn

Let’s talk hashtags. They’re how content gets categorised on LinkedIn and they help users find content on specific content. They’re really helpful to add to the end of posts to boost engagement, but did you know that you can also add them to your company page? There are a whole load of benefits to adding hashtags to your company page on LinkedIn and I’ve rounded up a few here.

Growth Titans

Define Your Brand Voice

In the social space, you don’t have a whole lot of time to get your point across. And, if you’re an avid LinkedIn user, your feed will likely be filled with similar sales pitches and personal posts trying to grab your attention.

But, often, these posts take a few minutes to get to the point. You’re left wondering what in the world they’re talking about and in a competitive market, you can’t afford to lose your audience. So, adding hashtags to your company page allows you to establish your brand voice and gets your point across when it matters – in the first instance.

I know what you’re thinking: so, why is this important? When potential clients click on your company profile, they won’t have to waste time scrolling through your posts to find out what you talk about on the platform. They’ll be able to identify your most talked-about topics and from there, they’ll be able to decide if they want to follow your page.

Essentially, adding hashtags to your company page cuts out the middleman. Doing so stops potential leads from scrolling on past your profile and also ensures that your new followers are actually interested in the kind of content that you’ll be creating, therefore boosting your engagement. Easy as pie.

As much as hashtags allow you to define your brand voice, you’re also able to use them to jump on the trending bandwagon and grow your reach.

A great way to do this is to search the top 100 LinkedIn hashtags on Google and start there. They’ll be listed in order and they also include the number of people following them, ensuring that you’re reaching the maximum amount of people possible.

But, it’s important to proceed with caution. It’s essential to keep the hashtags relevant and related to your business and the topics you talk about. There’s no use in including business and innovation hashtags in your profile when you actually talk about something entirely different. Your followers will be the first to find you out and hit that ‘Unfollow’ button.

Boost Your Connections (Organically)

In hand with these two points above, adding hashtags to your company page on LinkedIn also has the opportunity to boost your connections.

So, you’ve got to do some groundwork – that’s a given. Your consistent posts and activity can establish your company’s credibility and expertise on its topic or area. When you’re looking to reach a few more people who value your insights, that’s where the hashtags come in. They’re a quick snippet of information about your business that is easily digestible – perfect for socials. It can urge people to click that ‘Follow’ button if they see that you avidly talk about things that they’re looking for or even just interested in. Then, you can capitalise on these connections. Here, you can start to forge meaningful connections and conversations over shared interests.

LinkedIn makes it easier than ever to add hashtags to your company page. All you need to do is go to your company page, click ‘Me’ and your company name at the bottom. Then, click ‘Edit Profile’. Under the ‘Community’ section, you can click ‘Hashtags’ on the left-hand side. Here, you can add up to three hashtags of your choice. Then, click ‘Save’ at the top of the box.
