How to View and Delete your Search History on LinkedIn

LinkedIn can be an important tool in your professional life. Whether that be due to the valuable connections that you make or the opportunities you become privy to. There’s a lot to be seen on LinkedIn but that can become overwhelming as there is so much content and so many connections to keep track of. So as a LinkedIn user it is important to know How to view and delete your search history on LinkedIn. You’d be surprised how incredibly beneficial such a small task is. After all, like any workstation, it’s important to keep your LinkedIn profile clean and tidy. So it’s best to give your search history a good clear out now and then. 

LinkedIn Assessment

On LinkedIn, your search history uses past searches to inform new and relevant search results. It is worth knowing that clearing that history also restarts this personal relevance. 

So there are benefits to keeping your search history around, for instance, if you visit specific business pages or accounts frequently. Having these pages in a little bubble on your search bar can be super convenient.

Additionally, if you are searching for jobs using LinkedIn, this history can save you time when searching and relevant job opportunities are more likely to appear to you.

Saying all that there are two ways you can delete your search history on LinkedIn, let’s start with the first, search bar.

  • Click on the Search bar at the top of the page to view your history 
  • Select Clear located to the right of Recent.
  • Click Clear from the confirmation pop-up

You can also delete search history on the Settings and Privacy page which is a little harder to find but it is achievable with these next easy steps.

Deleting History in Settings & Privacy

  • Click the Me icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.
  • Choose Settings & Privacy on the dropdown menu.
  • Click the Privacy tab at the top of the page.
  • Under the section How LinkedIn uses your data, click Change next to Search History.
  • Click Clear search history.
  • In the confirmation pop-up window, click Clear

There you have it. Now that wasn’t too hard, was it?

Now your search history is looking spic and span, time to fill it back up again.
