How to Block Someone on LinkedIn

You can’t be friends with everyone. However, on social media you have the opportunity to connect with anyone, anywhere in the world. This doesn’t mean you necessarily want to connect with everyone though. In fact, there might be some people that you want to remove from your network entirely. Luckily, there’s a button for that – the block button. So, how do you block someone on LinkedIn?

If you want to block someone on LinkedIn, you can do so from your desktop or mobile device. So, without further ado, here is how you block someone on LinkedIn:

  1. Go to the profile of the person you’d like to block.
  2. Click the More… button below the member’s profile picture and select Report/Block from the list.
  3. Go to the What do you want to do? pop-up menu and select Block [member name]
  4. Click Block to finish.
  5. You can Go back to review your options.

Once you’ve blocked someone, they’ll appear on your blocked list, but the chosen member won’t receive any notification that you’ve blocked them. However, if you’re blocking someone that you currently or previously have shared a LinkedIn Recruiter account with, LinkedIn reserves the right to notify this member of your block.

If you have a change of heart or accidentally block the wrong person, never fear, you can unblock someone from your LinkedIn profile pretty swiftly. Here is how you unblock someone from LinkedIn:

  1. Click the Me icon at top of your LinkedIn homepage.
  2. Next, select Settings & Privacy.
  3. In the Visibility section, select Visibility of your LinkedIn activity.
  4. Click Blocking and select Change.
  5. Finally, from your blocked list, find the person’s name and click Unblock.
