Weโve all had awkward encounters, right? Conversations that havenโt quite gone the way we thought or people we just really donโt gel with. Well, the fantastic thing about the internet is that there is the option to remove these people from your life by blocking them. Thatโs right – blocking people on LinkedIn is a built-in feature for handling awkward situations. Even on LinkedIn, youโre not going to get along with everyone. So, here is a quick guide to blocking people on LinkedIn.
So, how do you block people on LinkedIn?
- Go to the profile of the person you want to block.
- Click the โMoreโ button below their name and profile picture.
- Choose the last option on the list โReport/Block.โ
- Click โBlockโ from the menu and confirm.
You will also notice that you have the option to โReportโ people as well. If you believe this person is violating any of LinkedInโs terms of service or youโre concerned about their content or profile then you can report as well as block them.
For more detailed information, you can refer to LinkedIn’s official help article on blocking or unblocking a member.
If you realised you blocked the wrong person or just had a change of heart, donโt fret! Unblocking people is just as easy.
- Click the โMeโ icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.
- Select the โSettings & Privacyโ option.
- Select โVisibilityโ from the options on the left.
- Click โBlockingโ from the bottom of โVisibility of your profile & network.โ
- A list of the people you have blocked will appear with the option to โUnblockโ them.
Hopefully, youโll never reach the limit but itโs probably best for you to know that you can only block up to 1,200 people. Which is an impressive number to say the least. Remember, after blocking people on LinkedIn, you must wait 48 hours before you can re-block the same individual – so block wisely!
Whether you need it occasionally or often, knowing how blocking people on LinkedIn works gives you control over your professional space.
