A Guide To LinkedIn Page Messages

LinkedIn pages messages are now available for company pages on the platform. When your Page has messaging enabled, LinkedIn members can send messages to your Page. This feature is being rolled out to certain pages, but will soon be available. So, here is a quick-fire guide to messaging on LinkedIn pages.

How to enable messaging on LinkedIn Pages? 

To enable messages for your page on desktop, as a page admin go to admin view, click Inbox in the left menu, then more. Select Inbox settings from the dropdown menu and turn on the Message button toggle on the right. Finally select at least two conversation topics and click Save in the upper-right corner. To disable messaging toggle the button to off and save. But, Members can still reply to existing conversations even after messaging is disabled.

Turn LinkedIn page messages On in 5 simple clicks: 

  1. In admin view click inbox
  2. Click the three dots, more icon
  3. Select Inbox settings
  4. Toggle on 
  5. Click Save

Who can manage messages sent to your Page Inbox

As a super or content admin on a LinkedIn Page, you can manage messages from your Page inbox. Here’s how to view and respond to messages:

  1. Access your Page super or content admin view on desktop or mobile.
  2. Click on “Inbox” in the left menu. 

You can use the Filter icon to sort messages by status or topic.

  1. Select a conversation to read or reply to messages.You can edit the conversation topic by clicking the More menu in the upper-right corner of a message.

Admins can see who sent each message, but member names are not visible.If a message is spam or inappropriate, admins can restrict the member or mark the message as spam. Options include stopping further messages from the member, moving the message to a spam folder, muting the conversation, or reporting the message.

Additionally, you can review messages by status (Archived, Unread, Spam) by using the Filter icon next to the search bar.

Messaging Best Practices

Here are a list of best practices to keep in mind when using messaging on LinkedIn Pages. 

Regularly check your inbox

Don’t keep people waiting for a reply. If members are engaging with your company page it’s more than likely they’re looking to learn more about your services or have a customer service enquiry. This means it’s in your best interest to keep responses fast. 

Have a dedicated role for replies 

When you reply to messages the response is coming directly from the page itself, not the LinkedIn user who is an admin. Having multiple different admins answering questions could confuse members who message in. Keep the tone consistent with one dedicated admin reliable for answering questions with the community.

Actively ask members to use the feature

Within your page content, you can inspire your audience to get in touch with you in the inbox. Where you can send free resources and capture fresh leads to followup or pass to your team. 

Alternatively you could ask your audience to message a simple phrases to your company page to send over a dedicated resource.

This new feature is great to improve the engagement of your audience on your company page. As currently they only served as shop widows and few pages rarely publish regular content. This will inspire more users to engage with company pages and those company page admins to get involved with more direct conversations with their audience.
